The dog's perspective
The first question we ask is not where you want to go. It is whether your dog will be happy there. Some dogs travel well. Some do not. Age, temperament, health and breed all matter.
Paperwork first
Every country has its own rules. The EU pet passport, the UK animal health certificate, the US CDC requirements, and Australia's strict quarantine are all different. We verify the rules before we book anything.
Ground transport over air when possible
If we can keep the dog in the cabin or on the ground, we do. Cargo travel is stressful for animals and should be a last resort, not a default.
Hotels that mean it
Many hotels say they are pet-friendly. Few really are. We know the ones that have dog beds, menus, outdoor access, and staff who genuinely like dogs. A hotel that merely tolerates dogs is not enough.
Build in rest days
A travel day is tiring for a dog. We plan rest days, walks, and familiar routines. The best pet trips have one base and gentle day trips, not a new hotel every night.
